IN GOVERNMENT FUNDING
The Government-backed Energy Companies Obligations (ECO) scheme requires the largest energy suppliers—such as npower, E.ON, British Gas, SSE, EDF, and Scottish Power—to assist British households in becoming more energy-efficient and reducing their energy expenses.
Through the ECO scheme, households can access free grants for boilers, insulation, air source heat pumps, solar panels, and more. Providing free grants for new energy-efficient boilers to eligible households helps lower heating costs and contributes to the broader effort to reduce carbon emissions.
Those eligible for a free boiler grant through the ECO scheme could save hundreds of pounds on their heating bills annually.
If your old boiler is operating at only 65% efficiency, you could be wasting 35p of every pound spent on energy. However, upgrading to a new boiler with an ‘A’ rating can operate at over 90% efficiency, reducing wastage to less than 10p.
